Broadsheet firm’s services in Musharraf regime should be probed: Babar Awan

On Friday, adviser to the Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Babar Awan said investigations over the Broadsheet matter must be carried out concerning the acquisition of the firm’s services in Pervez Musharraf’s regime and to find out how the work was halted.

Babar Awan addressed the Senate and said it was demanded in this House to probe the Broadsheet issue. It should be explored that what are NRO-I and NRO-II, he said while adding that it was not us who claimed victory after formation of joint investigation team (JIT) in the Panama case. Ealier, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry talked to media in Rawalpindi and said that no government minister is in Broadsheet committee. Meanwhile The PML-N and PPP on Friday rejected the government’s move to appoint retired Supreme Court judge Azmat Saeed Sheikh as head of the Broadsheet inquiry committee, citing his past affiliation with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as creating a “conflict of interest”. “Handing over investigations to those who should [themselves]be investigated is the murder of justice. [Prime Minister] Imran Khan, have the courage to tell the nation you need a NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance),” said PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb.
